Our Flute Lessons
For many students that start to learn the flute, they begin by learning to create a sound from the instrument. This may be tricky for some at first, but our teachers will guide you through the process and show you how to work on it at home.
Once you are able to create a sound, you will embark on a journey to learning songs and pieces and to continually refine and improve your technique. Our flute lessons will help you to master tone production, tone clarity and good breath control. Many of our students may go on to prepare for music examinations on the flute.
One of the great benefits to learning the flute is it can be a great instrument to play in school bands, ensembles and orchestra. This is a much enjoyed experience as you are able to collaborate and perform with other students and musicians.
Music Examinations for Flute
Our music school takes pride in offering our students the opportunity to undertake the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) examinations. Since opening our school in 2016, we have had over 400 students complete their AMEB Examinations with us. Many of our flute students have achieved excellent results. These assessments are recognised nationwide as a measure of musical ability and are an excellent way for students to challenge themselves and showcase their skills.
Performance Opportunities
Many parents love to see their children perform. During the year, our school hosts a variety of music performance opportunities for our piano students to gain confidence, performing experience and stage presence.
Amongst these performance opportunities, many of our students participate in our bi-annual Student Recitals, which are usually held during June and November. Throughout the year we hold other performance opportunities and events for students to gain even more performance experience and to share their love of music with others.
Do I need a Flute to start lessons?
It’s great if you already have your own flute before starting flute lessons at the Cantabile School of Music. However if you’re just starting out and do not have an instrument yet, don’t worry. We can introduce you to some recommended places for you to purchase a flute. Some places also have a rental option if that suits you.
